service principles
A service philosophy captures our principles and values… in other words… it captures what we believe in. These values drive our behaviours, decisions, and activities. This is how we want to do things. It inspires, guides, and holds us accountable.
We look into a client’s challenges, needs, and assumptions to reframe problems. This we do to identify not just the best but also alternative strategies and solutions. Design Thinking provides a solution-based approach to solving problems.
We strive to know the law backwards. It is a non-negotiable. It is primary reason why clients seek out attorneys. Knowing the law also enables us to add value beyond the traditional.
Experience is key in designing and implementing solutions that achieves goals, helps the client in a practical way, and delivering a solution that matters.
Smart, effective, and efficient solutions come from being prepared. It is as simple as that. First understand the playing field, the facts, the law, and the game plan (a.k.a. strategy). Then execute with precision.
There is a saying that goes… the client does not care what the law says. Clients want the outcome and protection that comes with complying with the law. A legal service that cannot be used in a way that helps the client is not very little use to that client. Add value beyond the traditional. It does not mean that clients must or will always like our advice.
Keep things simple and understandable… few attorneys do it and it will distinguish you from most. It is a rarity in the law. Clients want and needs to understand what your advice is, what they are signing, what they should do and so on and so forth. So use everyday language, shorter (bite-sized) sentences that are free from jargon and legalese. Speak the language of the client. Even highly learned judges want you to keep it simple.
